Reverse 1999 now available on Steam

Written by Ross Locksley on 09 Oct 2024

Strategy RPG Reverse 1999 is officially available on Steam. Free to play, the game by studio Bluepoch Games Co. has been a worldwide smash on mobile and was certainly heavily advertised when I was in Japan last November.

Featuring gorgeous designs and a distinct aesthetic, the game sees you take on the role as a time traveller working between the 1920's and the turn of the millenium after a mysterious storm falls upon the Earth and scrambles the timelines. As an "Arcavist" you can travel between eras, find others like you and work to prevent them being sifted out of the timeline.

Much like Genshin Impact, it's a game that draws you in with beautiful visuals, but seems to have stood the test of time, as new events are added regularly as you grind your way through the stages. There is a gacha (random prize) element to the game that isn't necessarily a requirement to beat the game, but rewards you for digging into your pocket. I've been somewhat wary of these types of games ever since Ayakashi Ghost Guild was just deleted one day, so be careful how much you invest and make sure it's not more than you're prepared to lose.

However, this one does seem to have legs, with the game being popular enough for figures to be announce by both Goodsmile ( as Nendoroid figures) and Apex Toys.

Why not swing by Steam and have a look for yourself?
