One Punch Man to get Hollywood adaptation

One Punch Man, the seminal series from mangaka Yusuke Murata, is to get a Hollywood adaptation helmed by director Justin Lin for Sony Pictures. Lin famously dropped out of the Fast and Furious franchise after reported issues with star Vin Diesel and speculation that he wasn't happy that Brie Larson had been cast in the next instalment.

Venom and Jumanji: Next Level writers Scott Rosenberg and Jedd Pinkner will be on script duty and Arad Productions will be the studio putting it all together - with experience on Spider-Man: Homecoming and Ghost in the Shell, their comic-book movie credentials seem pretty solid.

Sadly, anime has a terrible history on the big screen, with Battle Angel Alita being the only genuinely popular property to make the transition (and even then with some grumbling from the back).

No information has emerged on casting, but finding someone with comedic and heroic chops will be an absolute must.
