New 88 Films July Releases

88 Films have snuck in three new releases onto their websites slated for July, sitting under their Roman Porno and Japanarchy banners.

Kicking off with two new salacious Roman Pornos, Tokyo Emmanuelle and Sex Rider Wet Highway!

Our single Japanarchy release is another of Teruo Ishii's, Detonation Violent Riders! starring the inimitable Sonny Chiba

Tokyo Emmanuelle

Kyoko, played by the stunning Kumi Taguchi (Wolf Guy, Deep Throat in Tokyo), heads back home from Paris to Tokyo following a spat with her French lover Pierre in this sensual Japanese riposte to the French erotic classic. After meeting with her old friend Eiko, she is introduced to Maki, a scholar and libertine whose philosophy in the boudoir guides the young woman on her odyssey of sexual reawakening. Tokyo Emmanuelle was the only film produced by Nikkatsu as part of its Roman Porno range to receive theatrical distribution in the UK back in the 1970s in a re-edited version called Emmanuelle in Tokyo. 88 Films is proud to present the film in its high-definition original cut for the very first time outside of Japan, along with an optional audio track containing the original English dub.

Sex Rider Wet Highway

Fasten your seatbelts for Koretsugu Kurahara’s beautifully shot early entry in Nikkatsu’s brand new Roman Porno line of classy erotic movies, as the studio’s delectable top starlet Mari Tanaka (Love Hunter) takes the wheel in a freewheeling navigation of the Eros and Thanatos sex and death drives. Mina is suffering last minute nerves on the eve of her wedding day, but when she is involved in a hit-and-run, she is forced to take a diversion from her road to the altar to a deserted lake among the mountains in an attempt to cover her tracks. However, the body of the victim, a down-and-out named Ryo (Ken Yoshizawa; Ecstasy of Angels, Guts of a Beauty), is far from as cold as she first assumes.

Detonation Violent Riders!

Leather up and get ready for the ride of your lives, in this high-octane biker movie from Toei by cult director Teruo Ishii (Horrors of Malformed Men) with a cast headed by Sonny Chiba! Iwaki (Koichi Iwaki) is a motorbike mechanic with big dreams of racing professionally. Then temptation arrives in the shapely form of Mayumi (Junko Matsudaira), the wild and free lover of Mitsuda (Yusuke Natsu), the leader of the Red Rose Gang, a pack of speed freaks tearing up the town. Iwaki meanwhile has his sights set on the sweet and innocent Michiko (Tomoko Ai), but any potential romance is hampered by her overprotective brother Tsugami (Sonny Chiba) and Mitsuda’s bullish plans to make Michiko his own trophy. Does Iwaki take the straight and narrow option, or opt for a more dangerous road?
